meats like chicken that tend to be dry can hard. In addition to Kristen's suggestions, I usually have something to dip it in for added moistness. Plain old yellow mustard is super low cal/low carb. Or I'll take some plain nonfat greek yogurt and add some herbs or spices to it, I've even mixed in a little pesto before. The moistness helps the meat go down and sit a little easier. Don't give up - it takes time to figure out what works for you.

Right before surgery i was obsessed with sricha ranch. I wonder if I can come up with a healthy version using greek yogurt when my time comes.

Google Avacado sauce substitute for Ranch. It's basically Greek yogurt and avocados and lemon, garlic and spices.

Alot of people have issues with chicken unless very moist or mixed with gravy, broth, etc. Someone talked about cooking chicken in crockpot with broth and shredding it when done (like pulled pork).
My hubby had that problem with chicken...until I made it in the crock pot. He ate it fine at 6wk post op.

I had one buffalo chicken tender cut into small pieces on a small salad today. I'm on my 9wk, this is the first breaded anything I've had. I don't think people are necessary throwing away all their progress or going back to their old unhealthy habits to have one treat of a piece of fried chicken. I don't think it's fair to judge them. I don't know how they eat all the other time or how much exercise they've done? Isn't it all about balance?

Hold on. I eat fried / Broasted chicken. But...

I remove the skin/breading before consuming. It is very tender cooked this way. Just need to remember to eat only the Protein. Not the carbs and grease peeps.

No. Depending upon the surgery and what you want out of it- eating breaded fried chicken makes absolutely NO SENSE.

See my above post- fried chicken is very moist- BUT TAKE THE BREADING OFF!

No WAY at 6.5 months out I'm touching that stuff- even considering I actually follow plan day to day.

I follow the program too...by the book. But my one breaded tender still stayed in my calories, carb and Protein program. I track my food consistently. It was a treat...if I did it every week, yea, that's a problem. But I think a treat once in a blue moon is a mood booster.

Sorry I will say it and stone me if you want treats got me my f@t @ss I am trying to rethink that or adopt changes. I could see at or near goal attempting a non flour breading. And I am not saying I have completely perfect but I am not accepting "normal" ways of eating. I have a new normal and I hope to stick to it and my exercise routine forever.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
