Hello WLS Buddies and Pals,

Just got scheduled (November 1st) for my surgical assessment. I've heard a little bit about the process, but I'd love to hear from others who have gone through the process for WLS at this hospital.

Just wondering what I should expect over the next few months.

I will be finished with all of my insurance requirements in December, but the hospital says they have their own set of requirements and expectations that I need to complete.

Thanks! ☺

I was sleeved 7/27/16 at UW. I met the surgeon in February. Started my prerequisite testing in march. Had upper GI, ph & swallow study, EGD & bloodwork. My EGD found h pylori so I had to undergo treatment for that (delayed my surgery by 3 months)

Surgery was 7/27. I checked in that morning, the whole team was GREAT. UW has private rooms. They provide everything you need (even blistex & anti itch lotion if you get itchy)

I spent an extra night (wed to fri) due to nausea.

Post op, every dr visit you see dr (or NP) AND nutritionist. Also, blood work 30 minutes before your post op appointments.

Some people need additional testing - like sleep study, cardiac clearance, or pulmonary clearance.

Thank you! ☺ It's so exciting, isn't it?! I have to lose around 20lbs as well. Now that it's been raining, I've been working out in the garage. Good luck to you as well. When is your surgery date?

** Update!!!

Tomorrow I will be meeting with the Social worker at UW Medicine. I have been so proactive trying to get all of my appointments scheduled and out of the way! This appointment was originally scheduled for December 1st, but I have been calling them like crazy checking for any cancellations, which is always good to do if you want things to move along as quickly as possible!! If all goes as planned, all of my requirements will be completed by the end of November!

☺☺☺ I'm a happy gal!

**Update, so I ended up having a very piss poor experience at UW. I found not one, but a few of the staff to have very poor attitudes and I felt I was NOT treated respectfully or with professionalism there.
In January I made the decision to switch hospitals, to Rockwood Bariatric Clinic in Spokane. Wow, what a difference! The folks over at Deaconess actually seem to care about the patient! The only downside is that Molina made me start the whole process over again (and it took another 6 months.) I just got my surgery date for RNY.. October 2nd! I'm glad that I made the decision to switch hospitals, always trust your intuition. Bad vibes and surgery don't mix well.
My surgon at Rockwood is one of the best in the state of Washington!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
