I came home yesterday. Not in a lot of pain, feeling pretty good. Just sip sippin trying to get that Water in. How are you feeling. I had 2 doses of pain meds at the hospital, then took some for the long ride home but was probably not needed.

I've been doing great recovery wise. Was supposed to start stage 3 today started yesterday. Anything I try is easy but don't think I eat as much as I should maybe why. A happy happy note yesterday the boyfriend became the fiancé. One issue left side abdomen pain. My pain has been great no meds really needed but 3 times since I had surgery a week ago, I've either turned over or trying to sit from laying position, left side a little below the waist line burns like fire. Only in the moment I move, a little tender after but felt literally like something tore. Anyone else?

Man oh man I forgot how hard it is to drink Water every 30 mins! It's always been an issue getting enough water in, but I forgot how little you are allowed to drink and how much you need! I need to get a timer... I'm already so over the 4 items I'm consuming..I shouldn't complain but hey, it's a forum so...there you go.

Hope all is well with y'all!

Still don't think I drink enough. Don't feel dehydrated at all but still. I get hungry like every 3 hours. I never really was hungry before surgery just ate a lot and loved lots of food. Great part now is 3 or 4 bites I'm good. We had a church dinner yesterday and thought that would be hard but got a bit of chicken to try and a few pintos. Really surprised

Surprised at the chicken going down, was my biggest fear, because so many people have troubles and its my favorite thing. Second surprise dinner wasn't like I dreaded. I fellowshipped more because I could use my mouth to talk and not stuff it. Surprised at people filling those plates didn't bother me. They gave me a big plate I exchanged for a dessert saucer, put my little dabs on it and was good to go. A sweet lady brought sf pudding as a dessert just for me and well anyone else too, mainly so I'd have something and the Pastor's wife had sf Popsicles too. I took a bit of pudding with me for last night. So it went great.

A timer sounds like a great idea! I use the one on my phone all the time. Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
