2 more days of this liquid diet, 1 day of Clear Liquids then I go in! I'm not a scared as I thought I would be. My husband has finally told me how he feels. He doesn't want me to do this. He insists I can lose the weight with diet and exercise. Yet, he says he supports me. Well, despite how he feels, I am foing this. This is for me and my health. Why do people wait until the last minute to voice their opinions and try to make you feel horrible?

Good luck on your upcoming surgery. My mother was the only one that expressed negative opinions about my surgery. She didn't want me to do this. She is elderly and was somewhat dependent on the care I provided her and she wanted nothing to happen that could interfere with this care. So I could understand her reluctance to the surgery.

It is natural to fear the unknown. But sometimes this fear of the unknown is manifested in others about you, like your parents, spouse, children. Some of it is a true concern for your health. Some of it may be an aversion to change.

In those last few days before surgery, my happiness and excitement completely overwrote any lingering fears. I had a hard time keeping a smile off my face as they wheeled me in. I knew my life was finally going to change forever, and that fat would no longer be my defining word.

Commit to this change with every Fiber of your being and I promise you that you will never look back again. I can't adequately describe how much better my life is now than it was before surgery.

And please make sure you take plenty of before pics, along with your measurements.

Congrats and best of luck!

I am so excited! I had to put the countdown on my phone in order to keep my anxiety under control. I wanted it to come sooner! My mother is indifferent to mt decision. I personally believe she would benefit from surgery as well. All she says when we talk about my upcoming surgery is that she likes her food too much. She could never made the sacrifices that I have made. My husband, on the other hand, keeps trying to get me to eat. He applauds my willpower, always asks why I am starving myself. He reslly hates that I am doing this but knows that he cannot stop me either.

Hi. My surgery is on wednesday I also have a countdown. My hubby wasn't too happy about me doing the bypass either. But he said he loves me enough to be by my side all the way and support me. Once your husband starts seeing how well you're feeling, he's gonna be glad you did it.

Good Luck!

@@Emuts, thank you. It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only one struggling with the lack positive support (for lack of a better phrase). Good luck to you as well! See you on the Loser's Bench!

@Gordita81 Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I pray all goes well :D

I am scheduled in January, even though the boyfriend is not happy about it. He is trying to be supportive but it's hard for him. I think he will hate the change of me not eating all the crazy stuff we eat together. He is overweight too, but feels he can lose weight whenever he wants. I believe this is the best decision for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
