I'm sorry. I am pre-surgery so not much help probably. Have you tried adding unflavored Protein Powder to Soup or even flavored water like Crystal Light? Are you able to get in enough Water? ?

It definitely sounds like you need to be talking to your doctor. I just started solid foods at 5 weeks post op and I'm having trouble keeping things down. I think either I'm eating too fast or need to start with foods much easier to digest. Since this is just day 2 I'm learning what my body can tolerate. I love chicken and "think" I'm eating very small bites but can't seem to get down 3 oz. yet. I think the Isopure drinks jurisjitsu recommended would be a terrific way to get your Protein.

My surgeon made Nexium24 a standard part of my diet for the first 3 months......that probably helps. I take it first thing in the morning..............break it in half and add it to a teaspoon of yogurt. It's pretty much flavorless so I can get it down pretty easily.

Also, I don't know you're physical condition but my surgeon had me up and walking the morning after my surgery. The more walking the better it was for gas pain.

We're all so different that it's really best to talk to your surgeon because they know your medical condition.

Good luck!

Hi all, thanks for your concern. I think additional testing needs to be done Im scared because even thick Soup doesnt work for me let alone yogurt or hummus or anything. Like right now I just had a quarter of a cup of soup and feel uneasy. I can try powder Protein because I hear its so important to have. But yes, another appointment is needed I think.

@@chuswysly is there a reason you are trying to force yourself to eat 3 ounces of chicken? I couldn't eat that much until well after a year post-op, and I think I'm pretty normal that way.

I'm trying to get in my 75-100 grams of Protein............and you're right.............I can't eat 3 oz at a time. It took me pretty much all day to eat three ounces. Struggling with the Protein shakes (gag) so just picked up some Isopure today and going to try that. Before surgery 3 oz sounded like such a little portion.....now it sounds overwhelming!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
