Today my endo called and said she got my the green light message from my nut, this was decided less than a week ago she had a few questions and had checked my papers so she knew my issues already. I was waiting for her to say she disagrees, but in less than 5 minutes she said that she will write the referral to the surgeon and I will be on my way. She was only sorry that it might take a few months, but hey, I have lived with my weight all this time, I can do it a little bit longer.

So I invested in an calorie/protein/food diary counter app for a year and started my diet right after my nut appointment. Not allowed to go back to the vlcd until just before surgery, so slow and steady until that.

But I'm one step closer!!

My only big question is if I should tell my Mom or not... she is antisurgery all the way, it doesn't matter what the surgery is for. She even tried to talk herself out of an emergency bypass on her heart.... She lives 300 miles away, so I don't see her very often.

You should be in and out of the hospital quickly. I was sleeved at 67, drove to the store 2 days later, and walked a lot at 4 days later. I was not debilitated in any way other than to rest a little. I had no pain and I had my sleeve outpatient with8 hours in the hospital. My husband was also sleeved, and we kept it to ourselves. I sure would not worry your Mother with this, but your decision of course!

My vote is to wait on telling her. Wait until you have gone through all your food stages and start to feel confident about your new body and less stressed. She may even notice or ask on her own. By then it will be too late to turn back or change her opinion on it :)

Thanks for the input! I will have to think about it some more. She can't talk me out of it, I made up my mind already, but I know she would worry the whole time until it's actually over and done with. So maybe keep it a secret for her own good..? ????

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
