The World According to Eggface and Bariatric Foodie have some great recipes that can carry you through all stages of the post-op diet! They are real lifesavers :D

Awesome, thank you. I'm going to google that now.

I am almost 3 weeks post op and I am in phase 2 where I eat some amounts of tuna fish and a couple crackers or chicken ( make sure it is very moist). I have only problems trying to eat vegetables that are not cooked for along time and almost mush. In phase one I could only eat soft Protein like yogurt and cottage cheese and Soups. I couldn't tolerate any noodles or Pasta.

I haven't had noodles or Pasta since surgery! They're definitely not on the list of approved foods from my surgeon, so I avoid them. However, I have found that crepes can make a good substitute. I take four eggs and a half cup cottage or ricotta cheese (depends on your tastes, honestly), nuke the eggs and cheese in a blender and then cook the batter in a pan greased with a bit of olive oil. After they cool, I slice them into thin strips and store them for up to 4 days. They are a great low-carb pasta substitute, and I have found that with a little sugar-free Syrup and berries can make a great sweet treat. Alternatively, you can store them whole with a bit of parchment or wax paper between them and use them in lieu of bread for wraps.

Just a suggestion if you find that you are missing pasta!

Has anyone had any luck eating melted cheese? I am not to the puree point yet, but when I am there will be business meetings that I have to attend, held in local pubs, and I'm not sure what I can eat. I was thinking Soup maybe (although I fear I may never want to eat soup again after all this, LOL), or chili but there's no way to puree, or the melted cheese from a pizza (but it'd probably stiffen up too quickly). Any suggestions on what to look for on restaurant menus during the puree stage?

I got lazy and ordered wonton Soup broth, and egg drop soup. And added Protein powder (flavor less) and strained out lumps. The broth thinned out the egg drop a little and it still had Protein. It tasted heavenly.

Home made Bone Broth helped me with healing. Don't go over board friends. Inside of one week you'll be moving on to the next phase. So don't over buy, you'll get board. My staple now is Oikos triple zero yogurt. My surgery was 6/30. Purée was great and I wouldn't worry too much about sodium. Your flushing electrolytes with the Water and Fluid intake. Your eating so little so enjoy what little you do eat. No point in deprivation. I ate purée of meats I cooked for my family. It was thinned with broth, but flavor was good. Baby steps, swallow, swallow, swallow!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
