I'm 3 1/2 months out and I eat a lot of soft foods due to my sensitive teeth but I can eat my meals sometimes in less than 15 minutes I have no discomfort when I eat fast.I never over eat I only eat about 8oz a meal or less. Will eating not slow cause my pouch to stretch out?? I try and try to eat slower

my understanding is the sleeve will not actually ever stretch. The stretchable part of the stomach is removed in the VGS I am two months out and a fast eater, I asked my dr and nut and that is what they told me. Eating slows helps us know when we are full and not stuffed, and chewing small bites well, makes digestion easier. I still eat fast too, we are fine. I have reached the stuffed point and had to throw up, not much food either.

Ok I was so worried lol my body will tell me when I'm full by my nose running .I Amway measure my food because I'm so scared of that pain people describe when they over eat and I hate to throw up so I'm doing all I can to avoid it. Only one time I slamed a 20oz Protein shake to fast and that made me feel horrible so I stick to drinking 11oz fast lol

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
