"everyone" (as in the mythical everyone) says that after losing weight, you will have more energy. While I would love it to be true, it has not been the case for me previously even when I lost 60 pounds at one point.

So I am interested in people's response to the question above.

I definitely don't have more energy. I've lost 53 pounds in four months, but ever since I was banded (5 weeks ago) I've been exhausted. Particularly since I went back to work (2 weeks after surgery). I'm going to see my surgeon on 9/10 and I'm going to ask what's up. I feel like I'm all healed, but don't have any energy.

I always heard that you get more energy from losing weight. Bring it on!

Initially I was just wiped out with this surgery. I had no energy to do anything for about 1 1/2 months. I feel better now but not like I can take on the world. I still don't feel so great that I think I can get through exercising.

Absolutely I experienced an increase in energy.

That increase went up again when I started including 2 Protein shakes per day into my weight loss plan.

Your mileage may vary.... :)

To play on the words of Forrest Gump..."Energy is as Energy does"...at least for me. I have LOTS more energy...BUT if I don't exercise for a couple of days, I start to feel lagged and tired again. If I exercise daily, I feel WONDERFUL, mentally and physically.

Definitely! I was a little tired the first month after surgery but when I started exercising regularly- that's when the energy started to take off!

Ditto here about the exercising as well. I've had a 10 day 'sabbatical' from exercise and I'm really starting to feel tired and lazy. I go back on my regular schedule tomorrow and I can't wait! I miss my pizzaz!!

Six months post-op and I have felt completely wiped out for the past two months. I'm not exercising consistently enough to sustain my energy levels. I really need to work on that. I started a new job this week with a very regular schedule so I'm hoping to jump start my exercise program again.

I'll join the Exercise Choir.

For me, the extra energy comes with a regular, challenging workout routine, whether I've lost weight or not. Typically, for me, losing weight coincides with such a workout routine, so to me they are nearly one and the same. I enjoy how much better my body works when I am physically fit. Losing weight promises me the opportunity to look fitter and therefore, not have some of the confidence issues that have prevented me from throwing myself wholeheartedly into certain athletic pursuits.

That said, I'm less than two weeks out from surgery, still under advisement not to do anything more than walk, and I'm physically exhausted from the minute I get out of bed until the minute I get back in it. I am hoping that that will go away in another week and change when I am allowed to get back into my regular workouts.

Unbelievable difference! Before surgery I was lucky to be able to last until 8:00 pm at night before falling into bed.

I do computer work and have to get into a lot of files at work and the mere act of getting down on the floor to open file drawers was a real killer.

I couldn't walkl up 1/2 a flight of stairs without having to rest of a few minutes.

My sister-in-law and I went to Walmart and parked way out in the parking lot because she had a brand new car. I remember looking towards the door of the store and thinking "Gosh that's a long way. I wonder if I can make it..."

I get up and down from the floor now a LOT easier (and that was getting scarey for me because at 55 I was thinking I was joining my Mother at looking at the FLOOR as a thing of the past, as far as getting up and down...)

All in all...I'd have to say energy is one of the biggest bonuses of the lapband process. I feel like a million bucks and I am only halfway there!

You may be a VERY slow healer from surgery and your body is still trying to regroup itself, or;</p> <p>2. You have not given yourself enough liquids and Proteins to get built back up after surgery. Getting the Protein in and getting in the liquids (as well as taking a Multi-Vitamin daily) is paramount to restore the body.

Or you could need to be checked for anemia...</p>

It wasn't so much the fact that I lost weight that gave me energy... Losing weight helped me get motivated to excercise more, which in turn gave me more energy. Sometimes I felt like I could do anything after a couple of days at the gym! Especially at work. I managed a very busy restaurant and was running all day long... sometimes I'd wear out so fast. But not after working out. I felt like I could work forever!

Quite honestly I'm a human dynamo these days. I'm studying, mother to three, the house is clean, I've just done 3 weeks of full time teaching rounds and sat up late into the night doing assignment work as well. I've coped fine with that, previously I used to get stressed and have melt downs. I just couldnt do it all, now I can.

Physical energy too - yesterday we had a picnic in the park for fathers' day (in Australia). The kids wanted a game of cricket. We had a 2 hour game of cricket during which I did some really hard running - I never would have done that previously. I wasnt even embarrassed to be running, chasing a ball with many other families around.

We spent the whole afternoon there, I still came home and went out for a run.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
