8 days out and I think I can consume to much.

Recommended Posts

I'm 14 days out and beyond just being scared of overdoing it the first 2 days, I also have had no problems taking on the liquids.< /p>

I'm also concerned about this. I also said jokingly to my sister that I wish they could show me my footage, just so I can see that my surgery was done. I know it was done of course. It's just that being a week out I feel like I'm not getting that sensation that I should with drinking and eating. In the first few days I didn't feel like I had an appetite and did feel like I had to stop drinking because my ouch couldn't handle anymore but now a full week out I feel like I have a tolerance for food and it's scary. For example yesterday I made healthy turkey chili and puréed it so I'd be able to eat it. I kept tasting it in small teaspoons, and probably had about 7 of those and a few hours later I ate 1/4 cup of it. I had that stuffed feeling but I was concerned that I never threw up or stopped eating. I know the goal isn't to throw up Everytime I eat but idk. I also was able to eat a small thing of applesauce after. I'm fearful that I stretched my pouch because of that and I'm going to fail. Everything up until that point went great.

@@Jadane_dm You need to be measuring portions if you're already on pureed Soups and meats. 'That stuffed feeling' is your body telling you to stop, even if you don't throw up. Learning to read your body's signals and not eating past that 'stop' sign is a huge part of being successful at this.

I'm almost 3 months out and from about 1 month, it's been very clear when I need to be finished eating. Different foods of different densities trigger my 'stop' feeling differently.

Measure and portion your food, drink liquids as often as you can, make sure you're meeting your Protein and Water goals and get out and walk...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
