Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight you can expect to experience stalls.

Just follow your program, make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise.

Embrace the Stall

The stall is indeed normal and necessary. Also keep in mind: if you're following your plan and eating a calorie deficit every day, no way is that fat you've gained. Much more likely that it is 2 pounds of Water weight. Sometimes I gain like 5 pounds of water weight at various stages before, during, and after my period. Then is goes away and the stall breaks. Hang in there, try not to obsess about it, and focus on taking care of yourself. It will break. :)

Thanks for you your replies. I thought I should post so that anyone reading this at a later date can be assured that light is at the end of the tunnel :-). Today I weighed in at 175 which is about 5 pounds lighter than the day i posted this!! So yes, it was Water weight and my loss is still continuing. YAY. Just proves that stalls are in fact real, and as long as you are creating a calorie deficit your body will respond..... EVENTUALLY :-).

This is very normal and you'll more than likely have more of the same as you go along. It happened to me many times. WLS doesn't follow a straight line, as much like life, there are dips and curves, and sometimes backtracks along the way.

Keep your eye on the goal, stay true to your surgeon's instructions, and you will get there. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
