When you can't visualize being slim.

Recommended Posts

I'm getting sleeved on the 8th of Oct. Have usual fears and excitement.

But right now I can't visualize being slim. (Does that even make sense?) I can't see my body being smaller, I've brought some goal clothes but still I find it hard to see my body in them.

Anyone else go through this?

I was too concerned about getting through each stage to even dream of how I might look. I think the older you get, like me, you worry more about your health issues. Best wishes!!!

@@Ebony Rose

I never thought I was as big as I was so it was easy to visualize myself small, but there were still some bumps along the road. I think if you take pictures all the time as you are losing it is easier to visualize.

I have a hard time accepting mentally that I wear normal sizes, so I take my measurements and compare them to tons of size charts online, and yep, I am definitely in normal sizes.

I also wear fitted clothing, that makes it easier to see changes.

I'm glad I didn't buy goal clothing, I am a couple sizes below what I thought I would be at this weight, and I have adjusted my personal goal to drop to a size 10. I would have never imagined myself that small before but I have a 32ish inch waist and I can easily see getting that down to a 30. The smaller you get the easier it is to imagine yourself smaller once you start losing.

Just wear clothes that fit. So many people post that they can't see their weight loss and they are still wearing the same clothes that look like potato sacks.

@@Ebony Rose, maybe it doesn't even matter that you can't imagine yourself in a smaller body. Your intellect will know it's so and you can work on absorbing the reality as you go along. It will help, I think, if you do wear clothes that fit, as @@OutsideMatchInside mentioned. If you don't fill in some new wardrobe when your sizes diminish, you'll in effect be denying that you are losing weight.

That you say "usual fears and excitement" is positive. I predict that you will be wonderful with or without more of the usuals.

I've taken some photos and measurements. I think documenting my journey will help.

I'm the same. I've been large my whole life including infancy. I just can't wrap my head around the image. My husband ( he is supportive) tells me I am large boned so I won't get small like most of the women on here. But I hold out hope for my nice pair of jeans with a nice belt and tucked in shirt looking fine as can be :) lame I know. But that's my goal.

Proud Nana of a very handsome grandbaby

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
