Hello,

My name is Cathy Mahoney and I was banded at TLBC in March 2005. My highest weight was 305 lbs in 2001, and before I started the pre-op diet I weighed 285. At the time of the operation, I weighed 263, and now two years later I am at approx 195 lbs. I have been having terrible reflux, vomiting, nausea and heartburn and have been having defills (I had one today - took out 2 ccs). At the max, I had 7ccs of fill, and now I am down to 1.5-1.75ccs. Monday I'll be going to Toronto to get a Fluoroscopic xray to see if my band has slipped. If so, I will need to get all the remaining Fluid out of the band, wait 2 months, and if the band is not back in place, then I may need additional surgery to replace the band.

I hope to be able to find a resolution to this problem, I am quite concerned. I want to continue on this road to the new me, and I'm worried about how things are going now.

I understand that there is a support group in Ottawa, and the next meeting is in January. Have we decided on a date, time and location?

Cathy

This afternoon I met another bandster at a doctor's office and directed her to this site. If you've found us - Hi!

The next Ottawa group meeting is on January 5th, 10:30 am at Denny's on Merivale.

Yes, it was me!

Well I'm glad you found the site. You should check out the Lapband complications section for information concerning band slips. Hopefully that hasn't happened in your case!

By all means come by in January. I to enjoyed the meeting we had it was a great get away for me and I can not wait till our next one. Also, if my mother bugged anyone I am sorry.. I know she can be way to straight forward... the last thing I needed was to offend anyone....

I had no issue with your mom at all! For me it was great to hear thoughts and experiences from another bypasser to compare to my mom's gastric bypass experiences and the issues she's dealt with compared to my own banding experience.

I would love to meet with all of you on January 5, 2008 I'm sorry I couldn't join last week but I had some heavy duty shopping to do in the states. Mandy I hope you will join us as I would love to meet you after all the conversations we've had.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
