My pre-op starts on Monday so I am still debating what I wan this weekend. I might go for the childhood comfort food , chicken and dumplings! Having pizza for lunch today at work! I know that!

My pre-op starts on Monday too!! I'm going to make a homemade gluten free pizza on Saturday night. So much better then anything store bought, will definitely be a treat as I haven't made one in a while.

I'm horrible...I made a WEEK out of last suppers once my last appointment was done and surgery date set! I made a list of my favorite restaurants...spent WAY too much money, but I am hoping I got it all out of my system.

Had my final pre-surgery meeting today, pre-op diet starts tomorrow, gastric bypass in 2 weeks.

I've taken the last few weeks to enjoy a few of my favorite foods without messing up my daily dieting. My family made me a wonderful, Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday. I hit up my favorite pizza place. I feel like I've satisfied the itch. :)

Tonight, I'm making Shepherds Pie. It won't be the last thing I eat before my surgery, but it's certainly the last "big meal" I'll have... ever. And I'm ok with that.

I'm so ready to get on with the second half of my life a fitter man.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
