Burping and feel no restriction

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I had the RNY on 8/23 and have yet to feel full or determine what restriction feels like. I just had moist eggs for the first time and after a few bites I started to burp.... Any suggestions?

I felt the same way about not feeling no restriction but then I realized I am only drinking liquids so maybe that's why. LOL I'm so ready for tomorrow because I go for my 2 week follow-up and will be on soft foods!!! Hope I will notice a difference when I eat something with more consistency.

I had my surgery on 7/19 and still have no fullness/restriction, I sometimes get a burp or a hiccupy burp and take that as a signal to stop. I measure my food when home and when I'm out I split a meal with my daughter and usually only eat half of that, not because I feel full but because I tell myself that's enough. But with that said I have no hunger!

At only a couple of weeks out, your stomach is still swollen and healing. You can't feel fullness because your nerves were cut. Measure, and don't push it, and don't worry. Once those nerves start working again, and the swelling goes down, you'll feel plenty of restriction.

At almost 4 months out, I still have plenty of restriction, get food stuck, and can't even eat the amount my doctor said I could try for. You'll get there, but don't push things now because you might hurt your newly formed stomach!

I'm 5 days out of surgery and am feeling the same thing with only taking liquids. I didn't realize how fast I was drinking my Vitamin drink and downed 16 oz in 30 mins just now! I used to get a pain in the upper left quadrant when I was drinking too much but that has stopped. I'm glad to hear that this happens to other people and that I haven't necessarily stretched my stomach out!

I hope this stops soon and I feel as bad as they say you do if you if you eat too much!

Im 3months out and I still belch-burp with everything I put in my mouth. I have gas all the time. I know that after I take 2-3 bites, to stop because if I try to take another bite, I will be in trouble.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
