Do you like sushi ?

Recommended Posts

Even before surgery I've been craving sushi, I've only had cooked sushi non of the raw stuff which I really want to try I was told by surgeon that I can eat whatever I want as long as it's low in fat and low carbs also no junk food and sodas and drinks full of sugar but sushi is healthy and high in Protein. My main concern about raw fish is getting sick from it so I was wondering what's your take on sushi ?

I previously ate a lot of sushi, all kinds but mostly raw fish, never been sick from it. But I stick to quality restaurants. I'm pre-op but wouldn't the rice cause pain?

Raw fish is great, has never given me a problem either pre op or post op, but stay away from the rice.

I only have sashimi, which is raw fish - no rice. Or sushi specialty rolls that are wrapped in cucumber slices or seaweed instead of rice.

although we are supposed to avoid the rice, I've eaten normal sushi twice in the past 6 months. I had the same fears as you did. I did just fine but I stopped myself after 2 pieces because I knew the rice would start expanding as it sits in my stomach. So I would suggest eating off of a friends plate, rather than getting your own roll!

I don't like sushi. I love it! My first date with my wife was to sushi, the night of our wedding, sushi, 1st anniversary and about 1/2 of our anniversaries. I love a good dead raw fish!

I was a bigtime lover of sushi before wls......and I still enjoy it on occasion now.

I"m not a big fan of rice anymore, though.

I'm 5 weeks post op and I'm practically living off salmon sashimi. It tastes better to me than ANYTHING else :)

I have been thinking about sushi ???? as it's one of my favourite foods. I'm only 2 weeks post op, so it's a no go at the moment. However I'm thinking miso Soup might be okay..although the sodium levels might be a little high.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
