Not that I condone that, but my coworker used ankle weights under her jeans to qualify.

Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

@@kimberb Congrats on hitting ur bmi goal!!!!I was told that as long as you are being treated for the anxiety and depression u should be fine. They are looking for ppl that want to commit suicide and don't understand the process of wls and how it will affect them.

Putting weights in your bra can work, too. These insurance rules are so arbitrary, for people who have yo-yo'd forever. And we all know how easy it is to can gain or lose 7 lbs in a week, since we've all done it 100 times. (Worry that writing about this online will tip off the insurance companies, and they'll start requiring naked weighins!)

Are you in Kaiser northern CA or southern? Your psychiatric history won't preclude you from surgery, but if you are actively involved in treatment then the bariatric psychologist will likely want to check-in with your providers. They just want to make sure that you are stable for surgery, understand the risks, have good support, etc.

Never have thought of suicide. I'm very thankful for that cause I know people that have that issue with their depression.

I've been in one on one therapy for almost 4 yrs. I also participated in a group therapy for about 8 months.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
