Hard time imagining myself small

Recommended Posts

I have the same issue My Cousin just posted a pic and I was in the background and I didn't even know it was me!! It takes a while to get used to it. I had my surgery in January and I still see myself as heavy person!!

So I was small, then I got big, and I had an extremely difficult time accepting that I was no longer small. So although I am big, I constantly imagine myself small. I've obsessed about it for years now it's time to make it a reality! Even when my clothes get too big for me (not happened yet but they are fitting looser) and I have to buy smaller sizes it still won't be enough.

Not until I walk into that cute little downtown boutique where everything is XS,S,M,L , see something I like try it on and have it fit perfectly!!!

Or buy a dress out of Bebe.

My experience is very similar @candygyrl. I was "normal" size until I graduated high school and I just slowly gained and gained. I've tried every diet on the market with no results. I have multiple family members that have had the sleeve or bypass with awesome results. So now it's my turn!!

Imagine going to a store, seeing a nice dress, wanting to put it on and getting it to not only pass your breasts but actually define a tiny waist. If you still can't imagine that, go to a store, pick up a medium or small dress and buy it. One that you like for reasons other than it being a decent size. Every day when you wake up from sleep, take it out and have a good look at it before starting your day.

That was my motivation. I would imagine that damn dress not getting stuck over my breasts. It would just fall down.. None of that frustration..I want that.

I've been small. And medium, large, xlarge and when I left those and upward and onward into the plus sizes, well I think I just gave up at that point. So many diets, so many lbs. lost and gained. Whenever I was on a diet I would try to visualize myself the way I wanted to look and feel. My outfit was always jeans and a white button-up blouse or simple white t-shirt.

Now, although I want to be much slimmer, my focus is on health. I'm on a road to sure-fire chronic diseases caused by obesity. And yes, it's so hard for me to picture myself slim and fit and healthy - I had that image of me in jeans and white shirt for so long but never attained it. I left that slim girl behind in my mid-20's. The idea of being slim is vague to me now - an impossible dream. I want it, can't quite imagine it - but I'm certainly still scared of the permanency of the surgery. Every now and then I'm hit with the image of 'slim me' then on it's heels 'the surgery'. And I drop my head and think - omg. What do I do???

Lema, I've considered buying something to be my motivation. I thought about a bathing suit but not sure I want to go that route. A dress is a good idea!!

I did that just before i had my surgery, i brought a gorgeous pair of denim jeans, they were so small that i could barely get them past my hips and definitely couldn't zip them up.... now they are so loose that i can take them off without even unzipping them!

Its a great visual reminder of how much weight you've lost! .. i recommend everyone do that.. keep one outfit and try it on periodically to see the difference... its a great motivator and reminder of how far you have come.

I also brought beautiful dress that is 2 sizes too small... it sort of fits, but i can't move my arms cause its too tight... my goal is to fit into that dress by the end of the year.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
