Hi everyone,

Im very new to this, so I really have no idea what I am doing so any tips about the site are also welcome. But my question is, how long did you guys take off work? I work in a hospital lab alone 3rd shift, the workload isnt that bad. There are some nights where im busy all night then others where I barely do anything. At this current moment we are extremely short staffed so I feel guilty doing this in the first place. However, I dont want to rush back if Im not ready.

I was 68 when sleeved. 12 hours in the hospital, no pain pills at home. I walked the mall four days later. It was amazing. I felt fabulous. Don't overdo it but unless you have problems, and don't have to do strenuous, work, take a few light Snacks and enjoy yourself. Otherwise if you have time off, lie on the beach!

@@ccraw106 - It depends on healthy you are now.

I planned on taking two weeks off (I don't have any heavy lifting in my job) but I was back at work in 24 hours.

Now, caveat, I was in really good shape for a fat guy (i.e. no health problems), I liked Isopure (green tea) so I was able to get 80g of Protein a day by drinking two of them a day so my energy level never waned from day one.

I took a month off, mostly because my employer would pay me for a month off. I could have went back after 2 weeks, but it would have been hard. I could have easily gone back after 3 weeks, no problem. But hey, a paid month off is a paid month off!

@@ccraw106 when I had the lap band done I took 2 weeks off, and went back. I have an office job, so it was lots of sitting and not strenuous at all, but I was still pretty tired. If I could have had 3 weeks, that would be better. When I had the band removed, I only took 4 days (surgery was on a Tuesday) and I was back the following Monday. Again, still tired, but just fine. I would immediately go to sleep as soon as I got home for the first week or so after that, and then I gradually got back to my normal schedule.

I'm looking at the sleeve now, and I would love to take 2 weeks off, but it will most likely be only one since that's all I can do PTO wise. (I'm trying to get it done before we switch insurance and deductibles etc renew at the beginning of the year) I still have the same office job, but at least I work from home now, so I can just go to sleep once I clock out if I need to. I would say take your current energy levels into consideration, and how well you recover from general illnesses.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
