going on week 3 of post op

Recommended Posts

Iis there anyone out there that at week 3 felt great with no side effects at all? I am sticking the diet schedule but have saved things like chicken and sushi and have been able to eat about anything yet the chewing is very important and it is only bites rather than anything substantial. I have had no complications except for a couple of bouts of discomfort when I didn't chew well or drink to much. is this normal after 3 weeks? I worry about it not taking affect. let me know if anyone else has had it very easy because I was preparing myself for the worse.

I am 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery. According to my surgeon's plan the first 4 weeks I was on full liquids, the next 4 weeks on pureed foods and it wasn't until Week 9 that I transitioned to solid foods. This was to give my stomach time to heal from the surgery. So I am wondering if you are rushing the transition to solids a little too soon?

You're definitely rushing it, and pushing your luck by eating solid foods this early out. You may be doing serious damage to your stomach, but not feeling it because the nerves in your stomach were severed in surgery and have not yet knit back together and healed. You could cause serious and life-threatening problems by eating things before they are allowed. These rules are in place for a reason! I know it's tough in the beginning to stick to the plan and go slowly, and everything is bland and unappetizing, but these guidelines exist for your safety. You've come too far and worked too hard to sabotage yourself now. Did your surgeon give you some kind of meal plan?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
