Am I a Slow loser ?

Recommended Posts

I am a week away from being 6 months post op and I have lost 54 pounds which includes 10 pounds lost a week before my vgs. Starting weight 285, surgery date 275, current weight 231. Is my progress average or not? I am feeling so guilty today because i gave into a guilty pleasure and had icecream. It is over 100 degrees and I just could not resist. Easting it just made me feel like what they hell am I doing ? I should not be eating this .... Before I knew it the ice cream was all gone. How did I go all this time without it and in a split second I just gave in. ???? I have known people to drop 100 pounds at 6 months. Just feel like maybe I am not doing everything I could be doing... At least that is how I feel today.

Hi KristenLe! Thank you for your support. I am tracking my food intake. On most days my food intake is between 1,000 and 1,200 a day. I have not been able to stay under 1,000 since 4 months post op. On an average I am getting 60 to 80 grams of Protein. I am pretty good at sticking with my Proteins so far. I have a pcos diagnosis which I beleive is contributing to my slow but steady progress. I will get right back on it! ????????????????

NO, you are not a slow loser.

You are not a 500 pound man, you are losing weight faster than most women you weight could ever dream of.

Sounds like you're doing everything right! I'm a similar starting weight and also have PCOS - I'll be happy with that loss at 6 months! Stay strong!

we're right about at the same place. I am six months out this week. :-) and my calories are about the same. I don't know what your starting weight is, but I think you are right on track. (where my ticker says 66 pounds loss that includes my pre-op weight loss too. I was 238 at my surgery).

don't beat yourself up about the ice cream, we're far enough out that you aren't going to hurt yourself with this food choice. just choose to not make it a habit and you'll be fine.

Thank you guys for helping me keep things in perspective. This has been a challenging journey. I find myself each day learning more about myself and how to better manage my food addiction. I am adjusting to my new sleeved self as I go along. I am grateful for your support. Thank you for your input.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
