Random Thought/Question

I was told no bread, rice, or Pasta for 2 months post surgery because it swells in your stomach once it become moist which will cause your new pouch to stretch. I am a huge carb lover, but after hearing that I dare not eat it. It's tempting, but it's not worth it.

My huge fear of vomiting (I absolutely hate doing it) and healthy fear of f'ing up have kept me on track.
I tried refried Beans when allowed, which was right after post-op on my plan. Those just didn't go well. I didn't vomit but it was pain like the people who had the bread/sandwhich described.

So far My restrictions are my own, and are new ones dictated by my personal new hankering's and what my sleeve will tolerate. I do crave chocolate occasionally. I satisfy it with a square of dark chocolate. Or a sugar free fudge pop. With no real issues. It's trial and error. I've had a cheese steak sub. A couple bites really but if you crave it, eat it. I'm good all the time, so the occasional goody keeps you on point!

So I didn't loss any weight in over two weeks and out of curiosity, I went on a three day protein/liquid diet and to my surprise, I survived just fine with minimal hunger pangs, lost 3 pounds and I think my capacity for food intake has reduced to what it used to be in the first 3rd week. Very interesting..

Wow, this was good to hear because my capacity food intake slightly increased. I gotta give this a try.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
