how are you spacing out your calcium?

Recommended Posts

I tried searching for a coherent answer and couldn't find one. My nutritionist just says not to take my Calcium at the same time as my multi w/ Iron.< /p>

I'm taking 2 BariMelt calcium citrates a day which are 50 mg each. They are trash by the way, don't buy them. I'm just finishing the bottle because I hate the idea of spending any more on Vitamins than I already have. I take my first multi w/iron in the AM at Breakfast along with my Ursodiol. At night I take my second dose of each of those.

I've been taking my 2 calcium midday, usually after I eat. Does that sound right? I started out taking one each with my multi AM and PM but my nutritionist says not to do that.

I should add that I'm concerned about taking this correctly because I have celiac disease which predisposes me to bone density issues.

Space out the two Calcium so that your body can absorb it more. Also make sure to keep two hours between the calcium and the Vitamin with Iron. For me I take my two Multi Vitamins with iron by 8am, then a b complex a bit later, then about 10:30 I take one calcium. Then at 1:30 I take the second calcium and a Biotin. I am almost 11 months out and have had perfect labs at all my post op visits.

I have been fine taking both of mine at once. I do the flintstones complete chewable ones.

I take the Vitamins at night and the Calcium in the morning and late afternoon. Does anyone take B1? The ones I have make me gag, pills are large and smelly. I'm thinking of B multi Patches if they have B12 and 1.

Omg I hate my Bari melts so much and can't wait until they are gone/I get to swallow pills again! But guess what the Bariatric Advantage calcium chewable tablets are worse. If I make it to an in person support group meeting I am bringing them to give away because I just can't.

I find it next to impossible to work in more than one calcium tablet right now. I don't feel this is a problem right now and I shared with my team as I do get calcium in 3 Protein shakes/broth per day on top of the one chewable. I have occasionally taken 2 one at lunch; but mostly one near dinner. I take my multi in morning and evening.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
