Starting diet over and looking for someone near by to share my experience with

Recommended Posts

I stared my diet appointments about 2-1/2 months ago but I decided to go with my surgeons office dietitian so I am. Now starting all over again. I want to do things as smart as possible so I don't mess up my chances of approval. I am in MD in the Metropolitan area and was wondering if there's anyone close in the early stages like I am. I originally got the referral for the surgery back in February but chickend out but I refuse to turn back now. The liquid diet before the surgery is scary because I eat a lot and I am always hungry. So I have no idea what to do about that!

I'm not in MD, I'm in NC...but we can message one another for support. The liquid-diet is intimidating but you can do it and it really prepares you for the first few days post-op when you can consume much of anything. I had a really tough time with the liquid diet but were allowed a lean mean and veggie for dinner at night. For the two week pre-op diet.

Hello! I'm in Baltimore, MD. I have Dr. Kuldeep Singh as well! Currently, I'm in my 4th month of supervised diet (come the 22nd)...I'm doing it with my PCP. I've seen Dr. Singh's Psychiatrist on the 9th and I go see his Nutritionist, this coming Monday, for a consultation.

Cool! Myu unfortunantely my primary care would not do my visits (bummer). What insurance carrier do you have? I have aetna and boy I tell you they sure do make you jump through some hoops and don't really want to tell you anything until authorization has been sent. How is your diet going? Do you have any tips?

So I had my nutrition consult and it seems I will be on Track for an early February surgery date. I learned a lot. Especially the fact that I wasn't eating as often as I should! I feel like I'm on the right path now. :)

I'm sorry, I gotta get used to getting on here now lol What time did you go there? I went around 10. She's very informative and she talks to you like she's your friend! I like her.

Gray scarf on my head? Yeah, that was me. Did she give you samples of Protein shakes/powder and Multivitamins?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
