I've made up my mind

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been reading posts here for a while now, so I though it was about time to introduce myself. I'm 32 and live near Cincinnati, married and have 3 kids. I've fought with my weight for about the last 20 years or so. I remember being drug to my first Diet Workshop meeting when I was 11. My doctor actually tried to talk me into WLS last June. I immediatly shut him down, I had heard too many horror stories about gastric bypass and I wanted no part of that. I decided to go the route of yet another diet. This time an all liquid diet at a hospital. I starved myself for about 3 months (500 cal. a day) and took up running with my brother (who is in the Navy and training for special forces) as well as joined a gym. All that and I only lost about 20 lbs. I then moved on the weight watchers and the points program. Did everything I was supposed to. Wrote down every little bite that went into my mouth, and continued with my excersize program. Didn't loose a thing. In fact I actually gained 5 lbs. I got discourged and gave up. Needless to say I've put those 20lbs. back on. Went back to my doctor again about a month ago, and he once again started in about wls, except this time he talked to me about the lap band. Promised him I would look into it, and you know what, I think I like the sound of it.decision.gif I've done a ton of research and now all I have to do is choose a surgeon and get my financing lined up. Bummer, but insurance won't cover. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Dr. Ortiz, Dr. Rumbaut, or Dr. Curry. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated. Good and BAD. Hope to hear back from someone soon.

I have herd alot of good things about Dr. Ortiz,

I am going to have my band by Dr. Alberto Aceves, he is in Mexicali MX,

I had picked between him and Ortiz I ended up picking Aceves because I will have it done in a hospital and we are driving so I will be able to get my fills when i need them, we don't have any helth insurance and mexicali is a little closer then TJ, I know that Dr. Aceves and Dr.Ortiz

Have been good friends and bolth places had good things to say about each other so I think i have made the right choice for me,

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
