Hello. My doctor said he wanted me to have 64oz liquid minimally daily, but to work up to 96oz! I struggle too. I think the thing is, I used to go many hours throughout the day without drinking, then get a big glass of something and glug it down in a couple minutes, and that just doesn't work now. I got really dehydrated the one day and trying to catch up was extremely difficult.

I was sleeved 7/27 and that first week I did awful with both my Fluid and Protein intake. I tried, but it just didn't work. It felt like it couldn't fit. I think my stomach was actually swollen inside from the surgery. At one week post op, I hit both my Fluid and Protein goal that day. I thought it would be easier from them on out. It is "easier" I guess, but it's still not easy. Like others have said, you have to consciously think about it all the time to make it happen.

Do you track your food/protein/water? I hate writing stuff down (from all my former years of dieting) but I like using apps for it. I have a fitbit (step counter) and I use their app to track my food/protein/water as well. This way I can see how I'm doing throughout the day. I think myfitnesspal is another good one.

I really need to start carrying a bottle of Water with me everywhere I go though. I'm not used to doing that and I know it's a habit that's highly recommended so we can sip continuously.

My nutritionist suggested getting a big bottle that holds all the liquid and then putting marks on it with times, saying by 10am I need to have drank this much, 2pm this much, and so on. I haven't tried it, but that's another idea.

Good luck. We'll eventually get into a good pattern with this.

You need AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid and to reach your Protein target every day. My protein target is 100 grams. I can count all (non carbonated, non caffeinated) fluids toward my daily goal. So, in your case the milk would count toward both your protein and fluid goals. But, it doesn't sound like you are getting nearly enough of each. Why type of post-op nutrition guidance were you given?

So Sorry SwampBillies it's just a Restaurant called Sonic and their ice is tiny almost the size of hospital ice but even smaller so I buy it by the bag and just eat it with a spoon as well as let it melt some so it's not so much on my teeth

Try the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates over crushed ice. I used them a lot, especially during my clear phase, to get in my Protein.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
