2 yr post op this month!

Recommended Posts

My 2 yr is quickly approaching and I must say this surgery has changed my life! I've never been so happy in all my life. I am at a plateau now and would like to lose 20 more pounds but don't know if that is possible. At this point I feel having excess skin removed is the only way to accomplish that. I need support or advice from someone in the same boat on what to do about the final pounds! I am starting to think it won't be possible as I've already lost almost 150 pounds.

Wow, congratulations! My 2 year is next month. I'd like to lose 10-15 more pounds and like you I'm not sure it's possible.

They always prepare you for this plateau but it is still frustrating. I can't complain too much though because I am very happy and wouldn't change anything.

I've just joined this site. I had my surgery 2 years ago in May. Got down to 100 lbs loss last year but have slowly gained back 20. I feel like I'm starting all over. It's gotten so hard to not eat crap lately. I don't know why.

At two years out, I am starting over to a degree lost and gain the last year. By the end of this year plan to be at goal. The tool works. I just have to use it correctly. I am working with my new PCP. Do not give up people.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
