First post to this site, looking to see if anyone is in the same boat. So, week 5 lost 46 pounds and I can not take any Vitamins. Doing my best with Protein, getting about 45 grams. Worried that I am not getting the additional vitamins I need. Getting plenty of Water and eating what ever protein I can.

And tops or advice?

Getting in enough Protein and fluids and taking your Vitamins and supplements are critical for healing, healthy, and weight loss.

What do you mean you cannot take any Vitamins? Are you physically unable? What have you tried? Are you trying to take high potency vitamins on an empty stomach?

What about vitiam Patches. That might work better for you.

Honestly if you aren't getting any of your Vitamins in I wouldn't wait until the end of the month. I would try to get the Patches or liquids immediately and see if that helps. Vitamins are a crucial part of the healing process, especially immediately post-op where your food intake is so low it's hard to imagine getting what you need from food alone.

patch MD brand Patches are what my NUT recommends, and I use the B-complex patches in addition to my capsule-based vitamins and supplements. They do make a Multivitamin patch as well.

Best of luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
