Anyone one else feeling too sleepy a couple of months after surgery?? I used to have insomnia and everyone keeps telling me normal people are sleepy as much as I am these days but I don't feel in sync with myself. I make sure to drink plenty of Water and am finally getting in the habit of remembering to do that too. I eat well too but sown times when I get up, it feels like I am about to black out. I have about 3 weeks left before I go to get my regular checkups and I don't want to contact the doctor for something unless it's serious.. Anyone else feeling this way??

I can and I will.

If you are having dizziness, weakness, or feeling like you are about to pass out when you stand up after sitting for a while (or when you sit up after lying for a while) you may be having orthostatic hypotension. It's not uncommon after weight loss surgery. Are you taking blood pressure meds (if so they may need to be adjusted)? Are you monitoring your blood pressure at home?

Try pumping your legs like you are riding a bicycle for 30 seconds or so before standing up -- that may help.

Come to think of it, I have been feeling nauseated too. I remember because that is when I check with myself what I ate and when I drank Water.. When that happens, I check my blood pressure which seems to be normal.. And no, I am not on any meds other than my Vitamins.

I will give your suggestion a try.

I can and I will.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
