In 18 days I'll be sleeved

Recommended Posts

So I've been battling obesity for a very long time. One day I seen my doctor paperwork say 'morbid obesity' and diagnosed as prediabetic I knew something had to change. So through research I learned that my insurance paid for gastric sleeve. So weighing in at my highest 260 I began my six month nutrition classes. So far I've lost 20lbs which was what I was required to lose on my own to qualify. August the 5th is my preop class and august the 17th is my surgery date. I'm alittle nervous but mostly excited. I began my liquid diet on August 3rd, what a journey that'll be. I'll be getting my surgery in Washington DC at the age of 28. Inbox with any questions.

So this week I'll began taking pics maybe about every 4 days. This journey will be something to remember.

I will ask my sister to take some pics before surgery. I already lost 3 kg when I stopped eating sugar/junk after seeing my surgeon, so I'm pretty optimistic. :)

Welcome! :) Did you already start on your liquid diet?
Omg, this liquid diet is becoming tougher and tougher. Now that I'm only 3 days away from surgery I have gotten so bored with the Water and Protein drinks. It didn't help I came on my monthly too. Wooo girl.... The only thing I done had was a peppermint but I spit it out. I jitsu needed some flava.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
