Hi,

I thought I would put my vote in as well.

I only weigh myself once a month. I have read so many posts that people get so stressed, or frustrated about not losing or being plateued or whatever, that I decided after the first month or so after surgery that I won't touch the scale until the first week of every month. I have only been on twice a month once and it was good news, but there will be that time that I will get disgusted if I see gain or no loss.

I noticed on the poll results that most people weigh everyday. Not a good thing. It should be taken in stride and when you feel good and clothes are fitting looser, then that is a good reason to get on the scale. Hey, I felt more stressed when I was on the pre-op diet and had to lose 36 lbs, but only lost 22 which was a great accomplishment.

Good luck to all and enjoy the lighter side! :(

Peace,

Judy

I try to weigh about once a week....it helps me with the major fluxuating weight that would drive me nuts if i weighed every day.

I don't weigh myself at home at all, When I see my doctor every month they weigh me there. I go by how my clothes fit . Sounds silly but it works for me. I surely do not want to get on a scale everyday or even once a week. This way I am using the same scale all the time. Seems like almost every scale is different when you step on it. At the doctors the scale isn't moved and it's always the same one : )

This is me...I never weigh myself. Weird, I know, but this is what I do. I just wait until my doc visit. I, also, go by how my clothes fit/look/feel.

I weigh in every morning, and if the weigh hasn't changed I cut carbs for the day. It seems to be working so far.

hehe I don't even own a scale. Mostly cause I can't afford one that can handle 400+ lbs. But years ago I had a doctor tell me weighing daily was a waste of time. Cause you can gain/lose up to 5-6 lbs of Water weight alone depending on how much fat you have. That the higher BMI you have the more radical the water weight loss can be day to day.

IF I had a scale at home. I would say once a week.

But right now since I have to go to the doctor to get weighed It's monthly or bi monthly.

Since I've made some drastic changes on how I and my family eat at home I'm looking forward to see what the docs scale says this month.

Thanks all for sharing your points of view! I've deliberately not weighed myself for 5 or 6 days (which has been very hard!) because last time I did I was most annoyed to see only a nominal weight loss since the surgery. As Wendell notes, I've read a number of posts that indicate I'm not alone in wondering how that is possible given the low calories I am taking in. In my pre-op 2 weeks of Protein shakes and yoghurt I lost just shy of 20 lbs (which I've managed to maintain thankfully), but in the 15 days since the surgery, eating less, I'm nowhere close to that kind of weight-loss (well I guess I can only say 10 days post surgery because I haven't weighed myself for 5 or so days).

I guess there is something to the theory (or proven fact whichever it is), that the less you eat, the more the body holds onto it thinking a famine is underway. Maybe now that I feel more like eating it will help.

Again everyone, thanks for your replies!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
