Anyone else just starting this journey

Recommended Posts

I see so many people here who are almost done with their requirements or already had surgery. Is anyone else here just starting? I have my initial consultation and nut visit on Aug 10 and my insurance requires 6 months MSWL. Just wondering if I have any buddies that are just starting with me.

I started in June, but since my insurance requires 9 months of supervised diet, I am right there with you.

@@Frenchie1977 I am just starting as well. I have my first visit with my surgeon and NUT on August 22. Looking forward to actually getting the wheels in motion for this surgery!

My initial visit was also in June. I've seen the behavioral therapist a required by my insurance 6 times, had ultrasounds done of my gallbladder, stomach and esophagus. I've also seen the nutritionist once. She scheduled my second visit for a month later which will be August 10 and told me to lose 10 pounds. My surgeon also said at the seminar after the second nutritionist visit they try to schedule you for surgery. I'm so anxious to get this surgery done

@@Frenchie1977

I just started the program. I have an appt to see my surgeon on August 5th. I wish that day was tomorrow since I am impatient to get the ball rolling. I am not sure how many months I have to have a supervised diet/weigh-ins because my insurance (Tricare Standard) doesn't specify. It just says that I need to show proof of failed medically supervised diets with your PCP. I hope I only have to do 3 months or less. Crossing my fingers lol. Good luck on your journey!

My PCP referred me 2 weeks ago, but I don't meet with the surgeon until Sept. 14. This is something I have been wanting to do for about a year now, but there were no approved surgeons on my last insurance plan.

My initial appointment is August 12. I'm so anxious to get started. This is something I have researched extensively and know it is the right option for me. I have severe sleep apnea and can't wait to find out how it feels so sleep.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
