Best Decision I Ever Made.

Recommended Posts

I had my lapband removed and converted to gastric bypass on March 7 2016. Forever gone is the constant sliming, throwing up, and the worst reflux ever,( which included several bouts of aspiration pneumonia). This is the best I have felt in years. My HW 265. My initial visit weight-255. My current weight.......I'm in onederland!! 195. I need to lose 10 more before September 18...a cruise to Bermuda!! My goal is 155, although that dosent seem ever possible. I think I am definitely slower at this than most...but feel better than I have for years. Anyone else going this slow?? Maybe I've lost all I am going to?? Even if....it was worth it!!post-290314-14698501811443_thumb.jpg

I am band to bypass on 2/2/16. SW 259 CW is 187, so I think you're right on track. Us revisions tend to lose slightly slower because our bodies have already gone through a wls and like with being pregnant, your body remembers so it doesn't go into "shock" like it did when we were banded. Plus, we tend to not be as heavy as some people having bypass for the first time.

You're doing great, keep it up!

You will get there! I did not believe I would ever go from 310 to 165 either and I was a slow loser. It took me 18 months mostly because I had 2 back surgeries and a shoulder surgery during that time.

But I made it! As soon as I hit wonderland I felt like anything was possible if I kept at it and it worked. You will get there too!

Great job and thanks for posting. I'm having complications with my band and am debating sleeve or bypass, but am leaning towards bypass. Were they able to remove your band and do the bypass in 1 surgery?

Great job! I'm in the "best decision ever" category too. I had my revision surgery on May 27 and I'm down 50 pounds in just barely 3 months. Best I've felt in years. We are leaving for vacation on Saturday and even though I didn't want to buy anything new, I had to get a couple of new bathing suits because my old ones looked RIDICULOUS! Even the ones in the "right size" were so stretched out I couldn't go out in public with them.

My surgery and recovery were not easy. I spent a good month to 6 weeks asking why I did this to myself. But, once everything was healed and I started to feel better, I turned the corner.

@@nursey10465 You are doing great! You look like a different person in your pic! Keep it up and I'm sure you will make your goals :)

@@MrsJroChicago Wow! I'm doing a revision from band too in January. I'm pretty sure I have some scar tissue since the band has been in 10 years. Was the pain really bad? I work from home and will only take 10 days off. Do you think I'll be ok with that?

DebSmiles:

I had revision from VBG done 20 years ago, and other than taking additional 2 hrs to manage the scar tissue, I had RNY with no problems, and best thing I ever did. I just wish I could have had found a Dr. that could have done this many years ago.

I was glad I had a Dr. and staff that had done this many times before and took good care of me.

Good luck

@@RJC5197 Great! Thanks for your feedback. I am a little nervous about this but ready to go. I'm torn between asking for FMLA and just taking vacation time.

Thanks again :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
