7/26/16 VSG Surgery, Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve surgery on July 18, 2016. I still feel pain because I went from a gastric band to the gastric sleeve. I have pain at the port site removal area. I feel nausea and very, very tired. I'm on full liquids and starting purée tomorrow. I eat about 300 calories a day. I've lost about 21 pounds so far. Every day gets better.

I just had my surgery on 7/27!!Recovery has been better than I expected. I have lots of family which helps a bunch! Pain is manageable. Sore but manageable. But I don't mess around and I take my pain pills. Yesterday was first day that I was able to get a bit of Protein in. Still dealing with a bit of gas and walking around a lot. So worried that will over sip or swallow. Will work on more Protein tomorrow. So excited to have finally made this decision. Very excited to see others exactly where I am in this journey!

Hi guys - I was sleeved on July 26th as well. My hospital stay was four days because of extreme nausea. The pain is bearable at times not so bearable. I was wondering - Is it normal to not have had a bowel movement as of yet. It just feels strange to not have the urge to go. I'm also on a pureed diet. My surgeon wanted us to tolerate pureed foods before leaving the hospital. Its really nice to have people going thru the same thing I am to talk to. We should make this a group, lol!

I had my sleeve on 7/25

I had an irregular heart rate after surgery so ended up in the hospital from Monday till Friday.

I feel good , started puréed food today. I had cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce for lunch.

I was able to get one premier shake completed this morning.

I have lost right at 10 pounds since surgery .

Almost no surgical tenderness , taking Tylenol ,

I didnt have a bowel movement until this morning, and that was because I took M O M last night. I quit taking pain meds Saturday night in hopes things would get moving on their own, but got impatient last night as I was feeling very bloated and constipated.

7/21/16 surgery! Down about 10 pounds. I am on full liquids till 8/5/16. I worry because I can get hold 4 oz of Tomato Soup in about 20min. I have been getting in at least 80 gm Protein with yogurt, shakes and skim milk. I have been eating around 6 to 800 cal a day but recently drop this back to around 4 to 600 cal a day. I worry that I have been eating too much. I was only following the diet plan they gave me. Which was Protein shake 6 o'clock. Yogurt 9 o'clock. Yogurt or strain Soup at noon, 3 PM Protein Shake, 6 PM strain soup or yogurt, 9 PM Protein shake.< /p>

Hey I had mine 7/27. Days have been pretty good until today. I have my post op tomorrow. Pain is better and weening off pain meds. Today as I sip clear liquid or Protein I get a gurgle almost like a hunger pain or pressure feeling. And totally have no urge to eat. Like really don't want that pressure feeling. Today was a harder day then the last few. After reading blogs, maybe it's a bit of stomach acid? Has anyone felt a hunger pain knowing you have no desire to eat? Other than today, my energy has been great.

You aren't eating too much! At this point, don't worry about restricting calories - too few could hurt your metabolism long term. Soup will go through your sleeve quickly - so you won't feel much restriction. Stay on plan and you'll do great!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
