3 month post-op, portion sizes?

Recommended Posts

Hello beautifuls!

I'm at 3 months post-op and I feel great and am so much more active than I've been in YEARS! I am slightly concerned at my occasional increase in appetite... Sometimes I can only nibble a few bites, but more frequently I've felt like I'm eating more than I should be able to...

Can I pretty please have some people who are at 3 months or have recently been there tell me what their normal portion size is for meals? Measured in cups or ounces would be super helpful...

Thank you! <3

my program called for no more then half a cup for each meal, and at three months, I frequently couldn't get that much in at once. Sometimes I could easily get in half a cup and wanted more, but I would just wait 30 minutes and drink Water or milk or a shake, and that would satisfy the feeling. I was usually only able to eat 1-2 ounces of heavier food like chicken at once.

I wait half an hour after eating to drink, and half an hour after drinking to eat. 1-2 ounces of something like chicken I would measure in weight. I also measure cheese in weight. Half a cup of, say, cottage cheese or refried Beans I would measure in size.

I hit 3 months on Jul-13 and I'm doing fine EXCEPT for low energy. It's so frustrating but my surgeon and my primary Doctor both tell me to be patient. I'm deficient in D and Iron so increasing supplements. My Nut told me to stay at 60 grams of Protein since I'm only 5'2". Also was told to increase carbs for energy. So, my portion sizes are about 1/4 cup each of Protein and veg/fruit and IF I can get in a starch but rarely. I know I can eat more but I still eat faster than I should so I get full fast.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
