Stagnant weight loss [emoji22]

I'm 19 days post op and I've lost a total of 20 lbs. My surgeon said that she expects me to lose 30 lbs by my 1 month check up. The issue is I haven't lost any weight in a few days and I'm getting nervous. I've been following my dietary guidelines with the exception of meeting my Protein goals (I have a hard time with the shakes). I started back on the shakes today. Any recommendations?

It all depends on your starting weight the bigger bmi the more you put off but my 1 month was last monday and i havent git the 30lbs yet so just keep following the plan def get the required Protein or more and i realized when i stall if i increase my calories and Protein the scale moves but ao far 27 down for me 5 + weeks post op

For the first few weeks after surgery, your body is in a major heal mode. Also when you left the hospital, you probably gained weight because they pumped your body with fluids during your stay. Therefore you had to lose this added weight before your weight numbers begin to fall. So losing 20 pounds in 19 days actually sounds good.

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

I stalled in my 4th week. I had lost 22 pounds the first 3 weeks and only a couple last week. But, the scale is starting to move again in week 3. I posted about this problem too, and several of the vets said that a stall is normal. Don't give up!

30 lbs the first month is possible, but it's definitely at the high end of the range. It seems like a lot of people here lose 15-25 lbs (some more, some less). So her expectations sound high to me. I only lost 16 lbs my first month, and I've lost almost 200 lbs altogether.

regarding your second issue - a stall during the first month is super common. Almost everyone experiences that. It's called the "three week stall", but it can happen any time in the first month. Mine lasted two weeks (weeks 2 and 3 post-op). I just stuck to my plan and dropped something like 6 or 8 lbs during week 4, when the stall finally broke.

First of all congratulations on your loss so far, it is excellent. If you are not hitting your Protein goals you will stall out. You need to find a Protein solution that works for you. I struggled hard those first few weeks with protein until I called my surgeon and told them.

That call changed everything for me. The Bariatric nurse who had RNY herself suggested that I try Premier Protein ready made shakes. Each shake has 30 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar and 160 calories. Most importantly they don't have that nasty protein flavor or the grit from protein powders.

In the first few weeks, I had to milk them down with lactose free milk to thin them out. chocolate was and still is my favorite.

I am now 22 months post op and I still drink one everyday. Protein keeps you healthy and actually assists in weight loss. Besides Water, it is critical for your success.

You have to find a solution that will work for you but you must get your protein in to remain healthy through this process.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
