Anyone in "bandster hell" yet?

Recommended Posts

Hey Crazy Ates,

I don't think I'm in bandster hell yet but I may be entering banster purgatory. I think my stomach inflamation is finally subsiding and I'm able to eat more now -- dang it! Solid foods start next week for me.

My first fill is 9/25 and I can't wait. Anyone else schedule their first fill? How is everyone doing?

I'm schedules for 9/17. Yea I am starting to be able to eat more but am trying to stick with smaller portions. If I am still hungry after a while then I will eat a small snack that is high in Protein. I just don't want to gain the weight back ;) I am also having alot of trouble finding a gym. There isn't a gym anywhere near me with childcare...

Just tonight, day 7 after surgery, I noticed that I no longer have any restriction. My doctor only has us on full liquids 9 days. then soft foods for the next week. I miss my restriction already. I am going to make a big effort to watch the total calories I eat and keep it about 1200. Getting enough Protein is certainly going to be a chore.

Love my band so far.

Oh I could eat a Double Whopper if I tried. I have been being very careful about Portion Control, cause I have no restriction that I can tell. Sept 18 can't get here soon enough, I have an appt. for a fill if needed, well I can tell them now I am going to need one.

Yep, I'm knocking on the door of bandster hell. My appetite is coming back, and a Protein shake just is NOT cutting it. Last night I went to an expensive supermarket and bought salmon salad, chopped chicken liver, whitefish salad, premium yogurt, goat-cheese brie, all sorts of those yummylicious things I never buy normally because they're so expensive. I also got new small Ziploc containers so I can bring my yummy mushies with me. Experience tells me the way to avoid counterproductive and dangerous pigouts is to not let myself get too hungry.

I've lost less than 10 lbs on liquids but I am not going to worry about losing any more at this point. Starting this weekend exercise will be back in my life and maybe that will help, but for now I'm just concentrating on staying not-hungry.

Ok- first fill is scheduled for Sept. 12th. I am a little excited. Been on mushies since yesterday...not yet feeling hungry, but i can tell its on its way. Hopefully the fill will help.

Good Luck to all. Hang in there.

I notice a little less restriction each day, but the scale are still moving, so I can't call it "hell" at all.

I'm following Alex's example tho'......I'm only gonna put in the really, REALLY good stuff. I mean it's all about the real estate, right? If you own an acre of land in lower Manhattan, you're NOT going to put in a bait and tackle shop!

(I know, weird analogy -- shrug -- I AM the queen after all!)

But I've eaten a couple of things out of reflex and just thought, "Hmmm, why did I waste my time with THAT when I could've had THIS!"

Guess I'll be getting to know my local Whole Foods soon. But I'll have help -- my two oldest and their SOs have all worked there at one time or another -- they can steer me in the right directions.

I am on day three and in a lot of pain still. I have been sipping my fluids and eating Jello, but do not feel any restriction of any kind yet, just a lot of gas pains. How long do those last?

Hello crazy ates, I was banded on Aug. 20th 2007. It has been 4 days so far. I am now advanced to full liquids and am doing ok I suppose. Not much pain, very little gas, some dirrhea though. Eating small amounts of blended oatmeal with losts of skim milk, sugar free pudding, and other things. I have lost a total of 27.5 # since the end of May 2007. Just wanted to join the crazy ates and continue my journey with each of you. Take care and keep in touch.

I've been banded since August 2. I have had the same experience as far as my appetite coming back very quickly. I feel like I could eat anything I wanted at this point, but I'm sticking with the mushies. I advance to solids on Sept. 4 after I attend another nutrition class. I have to wait eight weeks for the first fill though so I've got another month of relying on will power with no restriction. It gets harder everyday but I am not going to blow this. WLS was a huge step for me and I don't want to screw it up. Good luck to all. We can do this.

I'm truly trying to enjoy every moment with my new band and appreciate it, but the truth is I'm irritable, miss real food, hurt, am bored and don't like being loopy on these meds. I tried going to just Tylenol yesterday and ended up in a lot of pain. Oops! I keep telling myself this will pass.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
