Hello everyone. Hopefully someone will be able to help me!

So I was sleeved on 5/26/16.. My highest weight was 298... My day of surgery weight was 288. Now on today 7/9/16 I weigh in at 272.. Meaning I have only lost 16 pounds since my surgery date. To say I'm discouraged is an understatement. Majority of the sleevers I've seen have already lost close to 30 pounds by now. I know I'm doing something wrong, I have to be. Any tips from people who might have went thru this? Or tips from anyone period?

Hi we should be buddies had my procedure May 26th also, my highest weight was 268 my surgery weight was 250 and I am only at 232 so I have lost only 18 pounds since surgery. I too feel it should be coming off much faster and don't know why everyone else seems to be losing a pound or more a day and I am less than a half a pound a day. I feel I am taking in very few calories and for a whole week I didn't lose anything was feeling quite discouraged myself. I'm sure it's got to come off considering I'm only consuming a fraction of what I used to and my energy level is starting to increase. Was wondering if being post-menopausal has anything to do with me losing weight slower??? But that's a whole nother topic :-)

Half a pound a day is still really good. That's about what I'm at. Don't get discouraged. If it is really bothering you then only weigh in once a week.

If I had to hazard a guess it is more likely due to your low Protein intake more than anything. It sounds counterintuitive, but you need Protein in order to heal and to lose weight. Protein also keeps your metabolism running.

I was sleeved on 5/23/16, and I have had similar struggles. I didn't really start seeing the scale move until I ate MORE. I was stressing about overeating the other day, and I lost 2.5 pounds not long after that. My Protein intake has greatly improved since I started adding unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder to my greek yogurt. I love it and it gets me to my Protein goal much better than I was doing before. I feel like we just have to experiment a little and see what our bodies respond to. I can't have a lot of carbs, but that might not be a concern for you. I have just been trying to listen to my body and doing what my program says. I am a firm believer that we lose better when we eat a little more (healthy choices of course). We have to let our bodies know that they are not starving. I hope things turn around for you soon.

Your weight loss is fantastic! I anticipated a weight loss of 2 lbs per week....your at 2.5lbs per week. Look at it this way, at 2 lbs per week you'll be down a 100lbs in just about a year...and that's somthing to smile about! So insted of grumbling about "only loosing 16 lbs in 6 weeks"...try shouting out "hey everyone, I've lost 16 lbs in 6 weeks!!!

You are losing weight; just not at the rate you want. You've lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks, which means, over 2.5 pounds per week. That's slightly better than normal. I would suggest adding a bit of exercise to your day. Exercise can greatly increase weight loss. Have you been checked for PCOS? It can definitely have an effect on slower weight loss.

Hi Hiraeth,

Yes, I was diagnosed w/ Pcos 6 years ago. I excercise about 4-5 times weekly (primarily treadmill walking) for at least an hour. My doctor never mentioned that PCOS could possibly affect to speed of weightloss. Thank you for the insight.

If you are exercising 4-5 times a week for an hour and eating 300 calories.. Your body is starving! Increase your calories and i guarantee you will start losing ????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
