Lap band port re adjusted

Recommended Posts

I had cramping and abdominal discomfort for about a year now. It really stinks. What I did was I told my surgeon on Long Island, New York what was happening. He told me that I should get the port of the band re adjusted and anchored again. I am going for surgery on Wednesday to get it replaced. I was feeling discomfort and cramping in my abdominal and it is terrible. Has anyone got this done or had anything done with this? My surgeon said if that doesn't fix the problem he is going to remove it all together. It did help me lose a ton of weight though.. that is a good thing.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you are having port problems . I hope all goes well on Wednesday. While I did not have the difficulty that you describe, I did have my port reanchored following a Tummy Tuck and did experience some tenderness and discomfort for a while. Even now, if my clothing rubs against the spot in just the wrong way, it can be painful, so I have to choose my clothing wisely. But it's not nearly as bad as what you are describing. I hope the surgery does the trick for you. Best of luck on your continues WL journey.

Did the surgeon tell you which method was used to anchor the port? I remember how painful my port site became mid-2nd week post-op, doc said it was encapsulation. Hope all goes well with your procedure. bmi.png

I had the port re adjusted into my abdominal area. Basically I feel the same a bit different and on the good side but not what I expected. It is going to heal after a while and I have a big bump where the port site is. It used to be even bigger the port site. I hope I feel better but if not I am going to get this band removed. Its been about 2 and a half years. I have lost weight but its a struggle and I got very depressed by having it. Kind of unfortunate.

So sorry to hear that. I do hope that the problems resolved once it is healed. The lap band is not for everyone. And losing weight can still be a struggle because it is just a tool, it's not a cure. Don't be too hard on yourself and try not to get discouraged. Sometimes it is simple changes that make the greatest difference.

I had my port moved twice! The pain just moved from one side to the other.. made absolutely no difference.. also because i lost all my weight excess weight... the port kept rubbing against everything.... couldn't sleep or lay on my tummy or certain positions on the side... and you literally could feel/see it poking out.

So glad i got my band removed, i don't have any issues like this with the sleeve

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
