I'm very late to the party here, but I was 35 years old when I start the whole process. I'm 44 now. My highest weight was 320 and I've been maintaining between 160-165, so I'm at about half my body weight. I had RNY gastric bypass surgery and it was the BEST decision I ever made. :)

58. 250. 70.

Met my initial goal today -- it hasn't been all that hard and I'm quite happy. My surgeon wants me to lose another 20 which puts me where I was when I was in college. That seems unrealistic/unbelievable to me! So I'm setting my next goal to lose 10 more, then 5 more, and we'll see what my body tells me in the end. I'm not going to stress out over the number. If I can make it all the way to that 90 pound loss then great. If I stop here I'm still happy (but I don't intend to stop!).

I feel like a normal person again.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
