EXCESS SKIN questions!

Recommended Posts

Yeh, the pictures cracked me up!!!

Oddly, I only have one right boob thing!! It's under my right arm pit, but I'm fine on my left, I wonder what that means?? LOL

I only just got it within the last 5 months.. it's so odd..

Anyway, since I want to have a kiddo after I complete my weight loss, I probably can't get a Tummy Tuck, right?

Maybe after I have a kiddo.

I read an interesting article yesterday.... I don't know if I believe it but the gist of it was that as you lose you're body composition changes, and you lose a portion of your lean body mass. So when you are at goal and still have saggy soft skin, it's actually fat that could be lessened by decreasing your fat body mass and increasing your lean body mass. The idea was that skin will form around the body and if it's sagging it's because it is forming around the fat. I don't know what I think about this. I guess I hope it's right, cuz then I can do something about it without plastic surgery... but I have my doubts.

Meghan, I think I've read the article you're referring to (by a guy who's selling his weight loss/body building system).

I do think there's some validity to his message. Unless you do strength training as you lose weight, you *will* lose some of your muscle mass. That's why it gets harder and harder to lose weight as you near goal. I think strength training is *essential* to reaching goal and maintaining lost weight.

But, his theory would be more applicable (to the loose skin issue) if we lost weight evenly from the various parts of our bodies. But, we don't. My body from the waist up appears to be someone with an extremely low bodyfat percentage (low teens, max). My upper body is more "cut" than the female trainers at my gym. Unfortunately, my lower body is another story. The muscle is *there*, it just lies under a layer of fat and extra skin. Could I continue to lose weight and get rid of that extra fat on my legs and improve the condition of the skin? Maybe. But, it would be at the expense of my face and breasts, which have already lost too much fat for my liking.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
