Hey! I had sleeve surgery on 6/28. I'm doing awesome! Already back at work but I cannot stop thinking about macaroni salad! I know this sounds INSANE!! But could it hurt to have a few noodles?

If you're still on liquids, then yes it could hurt. If you've progressed to soft foods, it may be okay depending what else is in there.

Though - be prepared for the can of worms you just opened by asking that question. :)

It could hurt you physically and it could derail your commitment to healthy, on-plan eating. IMO the latter is the bigger risk.

Yes it could hurt. Your stomach was cut and stapled. Don't you think that needs time to heal?

Your stomach actually massages the food to break it down. You dont want any solids in there. It could damage the incision. PLUS Pasta, should be on your no no list till you are at goal.

Please don't do that to your new stomach.

I read another user's doctor's advice on here a few weeks ago: if you're craving a food that's in front of you, SMELL IT. Take a few deep whiffs of it, remind yourself of the flavor and then put it down. Think of it as smelling flowers.

I've done that with fries and bread (mmm, yeasty) and it does the trick.

I agree with this one. I have found that things I used to love (like French fries) smell so much better than they taste now.

If you are on soft foods and feel you must have macaroni salad, make sure you are still getting in some Protein. I bet you will find it won't taste nearly good as you think it will though.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
