This is no joke. The nausea was so bad now is a bit calm. The pain of gas in my stomach is so annoying. I get full fast so Is hard for me to zip Water the whole day through. Im happy I got it but no matter how much you read its not the same as experiencing it.

I can attest that that the nausea is seriously bad for the first two days, but after that it's almost funny how nonexistent it became for me.

Water will become far more natural to you probably by tomorrow or Saturday. It hits you pretty quickly and there's a noticeable gap between "I can't drink that much" to "I feel like I can drink almost like a normal person".

I didn't have the gas pain, or at least I don't think I did, but I did buy Gas-X strips just in case and as KristenLe said, walk around as much as possible!

Good luck!

I found G2 Gatorade much easier to drink than Water. Didn't feel as heavy going down. It gets better every week and soon you will be able to experience real food with flavor again. I am 5 weeks out and experimenting with solid foods. Just to have flavor again is such a morale boost. Better days ahead!!

Hi all! I am about 4 days out from having surgery....did you guys throw up a lot or is it just constant sick feeling? I am trying to decide if I need help after surgery or if I can manage on my own for the most part when the hubby takes kids to some soccer camps, etc. like I have with other surgeries.

Thanks!

I was on clear liquids for a week then 'full liquids' (which includes Protein shakes) for a week. Even then I was told 60-70 grams of Protein a day. I got the Premier shakes which are 30g protein and just had 2 a day. (I added yogurt or other sources too). Luckily I didn't have any nausea and I still love the shakes.

I can't believe he has you on Protein shakes already! My diet will be strict Clear liquids only for the first week, then on to Protein Shakes, etc. I am sorry you are having such a hard time!

My Dr requires us to drink Protein Shakes on day 2 in the hospital. I am glad!

Wow, isn't it interesting how very different all the pre-op diets, post-op diets and requirements are from doctor to doctor? Mine is being done in a Surgery Center, not the hospital and there is no catheter, like I have heard several talk about. Also, they said my stay was 23 hours but I have read about a lot who are required to stay for 3 nights. So hard to know what to expect! I have had several surgeries, including back surgery and both the nurse and doctor tell me this will be the easiest one. I HOPE SO!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
