My story at almost 2 months post op

Recommended Posts

Well guys, I am almost two months post op (July 9th). I truly believe surgery was a saving grace for me. Before surgery I was 20 years old and 16 pounds shy of 300 pounds. I wasn't happy, I wasn't living life, and I certainly was not going to live a full life at the rate I was going. I started dieting February 6th & by my surgery date of May 9th I was 236 pounds! I had lost 48 pounds all by myself in 3 months. Never had I been successful before in losing. Surgery went incredible & I feel even better. I was stalled for about 3 weeks after surgery and then the weight started coming off. As of yesterday I am officially 205 pounds! A whopping 31 lost since surgery & 79 all together! It's such an incredible feeling. I really want to be 199 or under by my 21st birthday which is July 10th so let's cross our fingers that it happens. But I am so close to my overall goal of 150 that I have no patience left! I'm so excited and happy for the first time in a long time. I am so happy I got this surgery when I did & I will forever be grateful for this opportunity. Anyone thinking about surgery, my opinion is to just go for it. ❤️

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
