Recommended Posts

Yep, just like Doxielover said walk, walk, walk, walk, and gas-x. I am surprised your doctor didn't tell you.

What Can You Do For The Air Trapped In Chest And Arms After Lap Band Surgery
This is the first I've heard of air trapped in the chest and arms following surgery. This is definately a question for your bariatric surgeon. My feeling is that it feels like air trapped, but is something else. Be sure to get all the support you can to make your surgery a success. Listen to Bariatric Radio at Bariatric Radio Network and you can call in to John Jolliffe for free Thursdays at noon PST.

I have never felt such pain like I did with the gas in my left shoulder. It actually went up my neck behind my ear. I walked and it helped short-term, but finally I took my pain medication. I didn't think it would help for gas, but pain is pain. I was in tears the pain was so bad. It would go to my chest, then to my stomach then back in my shoulder. Lortab...I love you.

Hi,

When I got my surgery I cried so much in pain with this! My gas went on to 6 weeks. Even now and then i still get it when i eat vegetables and still hurts sometimes. I have a whole list of remedies but the best one that works quick is Charco (charcoal) pills. I found these at wal-mart. In fact these are so good, flight attendants carry these when someone has stomach problems or food poisening. These pills trap the bubbles and that feeling of bloatedness goes away.

Hope this helps!

Hey all, try this.

Get down on your hands and knees. Support your stomach with a pillow, if you are newly out of surgery, and then put your forarms down on the ground. Then go all the way down on your face. So your butt is up in the air and your head is on the ground. This lets the gas release out. It really helps.

You are gonna do a LOT of burping and a lot of farting for the first couple of weeks. Don't hold back....Embrace it because every time some of that air rumbles out...above or below...that's one step closer to relief. (It got so whenever either happened my family could hear me somewhere in the house yelling "YEAH!!!!") And if you are in discomfort, TAKE your pain meds....the doctor didn't give em to you to decorate your bathroom shelf. They are there to give you big time relief so take advantage of it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
