Hey y'all! I'm looking at an August date for my gastric sleeve and will be doing self pay in Mexico. Anyone care to share their experiences that have crossed the border to do the same?

Hey! I am going at the end of July with Dr. Illan. Which doctor did you choose?

I'm going to Dr. Rodriguez and am using BeLiteWeight as the facilitators.

@@Kindra11 - Same team I used. They provide some good guidelines to follow in prep and post op. [Note: the pre-op diet is designed to shrink your liver. Dr. R. explained that if the liver is really small, he will have a clear shot and can get the job done quickly, which is great because less anesthesia the better]

The facility is nice, the rooms are huge. If you have someone with you, they will very comfortable on the couch in the room. My only problem was I was ready to leave the next day, but I scheduled my return flight on three days after surgery (always thinking worst case scenario). I enjoyed going to mall across the street from the hospital. There was a GNC there so I picked up some Isopure to sip on.

Bring some slip on shoes and some good portable music, I spent a great deal of time just walking around and listening to music. There internet is good, and they have a nice common area to sit at when you get tired of your room. Be sure to turn your phone on airplane mode because the international rates can be pricey.

Most people can speak a little English, if I hadn't been learning Polish before my surgery (I was doing a work project there), I would have been learning some survival Spanish.

Good luck, and I hope your experience was as great as mine.

I just went on June 17, in Mexico it was great they were really nice. I was super ready to go the day after. I'm home now (just got in at 2am this morning) and I feel fine other than some gas pain.

How exciting! Idk why but Im just picturing myself in so much pain and basically on my death bed when I get to recovery?! I'm actually more worried about the pain of surgery than I am dealing with the restrictions of my food addiction. Thanks so much for your insight!

@@Kindra11 - Strangely, there wasn't much in the way of pain. They will put a drain on one of the incision sights and when I rolled over on it I hurt, but other than that I was up and walking within two hours of being wheeled down for surgery. Sometimes it is helpful to prepare for the worst, but be prepared for great success.

Hi. I'm totally new here, but I came partly to see if anyone else used BeLiteWeight like I am doing. I have mine scheduled for July 5. Really glad some others like me out there!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
