Documenting your progress

Recommended Posts

How are you all going to document your progress? I have one YouTube channel for makeup, beauty and planning, and made a second one for the VSG journey. I'm not sure if I want to use it or not. Also thinking of blogging. I have a line a day journal where you write a line a day of what your day was like so I could use that, but with videos you can see the changes, with blogging or journaling, you can write your thoughts and feelings. If I decide to make YouTube videos, I will probably just make the videos and wait to upload them until I'm at a better weight.

What are you all doing?

My surgery is June 27.

I watch a LOT of wls vids on youtube (seriously waaaay too many). The community on there seems really cool and supportive. It's really amazing to see people's transformations and it would be nice to have that record to go back to later. Plus it seems easier to connect with people when you can see and hear them.

The problem is the idea of making a channel freaks me out. Do I really want everyone I know to see me going through this personal stuff? People from work or my past? I think I'm too shy and private for that type of venue.

I wish this site had video sharing options, so I could share in that way, but know that it was going to stay in a community focused on wls.

I do want some way to document everything, to learn from it and to Celebrate my progress. I guess I'll probably just take photos for myself and maybe journal.

I've watched both of those. I like people with big personalities and a sense of humor like ClusieL, 1 Gorgeous Godzilla, and Chemistry Queen.

There are some good older ones like K Star, Cece VSG, Drea VSG, and VSG RedesignMe. Some more recent people are Madeup Mama, Caitlyns VSG Journey, Princess and the Sleeve...too many to list!

Some are better than others as far as being entertaining, but I even watch boring ones just to learn as much as I can and hear more people's perspectives.

(Edited because my phone hates me )

Make sure to keep track of measurements! That was a huge motivator for me especially when in a stall. AND though I wouldn't be comfortable posting them myself (I'm old school), I wish I had taken more pictures along the way (the same day I took measurements which was generally every 3 to 4 weeks).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
