Liquid Diet Issues

Recommended Posts

Today is day two of my liquid diet. I've been using low calorie juice, Unjury and nectar and lots of Water. My main issue is with "leakage" to put it as delicately as possible. Does this last throughout the liquid diet? I'm lactose intolerant so only mix with water at this point.

Any tips from veterans would be most helpful.

Do I need to wear Depends? God help me I'm gettin ready for the Home....

I was able to have Jello and stuff like that so it gave me variety but I did have some issues in the bathroom for the entire 2 weeks.

It appears you are in the pre-op diet stage. Good luck on your surgery. I had RNY gastric bypass 3 years ago. Before surgery I had a problem with frequent urination. Every hour on the hour during the night, I made a trip to the restroom. But a few weeks after surgery, this problem went away. Now I get a good nights sleep. Although this is not the same problem you are experiencing it is similar.

If Depend will contain this problem by all means buy some and use it when you need it. Hopefully this problem will disappear for you after surgery.

Thanks so much James I am having a mini bypass on June 27. Have been limiting food due to IBS for a couple weeks before the liquid pre op diet, down 13 pounds already . I will get some Imodium too :) thanks for your encouragement!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
