June 13th I get sleeved and I'm so nervous!

Recommended Posts

Two days to go and I'm so nervous. So many things running in my head...like "hope I didn't make a mistake!" or "Will I ever enjoy food again?" and "What will my stomach feel like after surgery?" Anyone out there having surgery same day as me??

Mine is not on the same day, but the 14th. I know what to expect from watching YouTube videos and seeing my surgeon perform VSG. But yes, I am a little nervous. But I know that everything will work out for the better. Cuz this is what needs to be done to get me healthy.

You will do good, just try to be as positive as you can! This is about you and living a good life. Just smile, it will be alright.

It's so exciting. I'm on the 16th. From what I hear and read all this is normal. I'm super nervous, anxious, and full of emotion. Especially since no food for 11 days!!

Good luck to you guys

I promise you--there is nothing to worry about! I had surgery on 6.1.16 and had no problems. I know how you feel, that you don't know what's going to happen on the other side. It's going to be fine!!! Breath and Relax, No Regrets here. I've been averaging a pound a day since surgery and I'm now down 17 pounds. Fight for It, it's so worth it on the other side of the surgery door! Worth It!!!

My surgery was a month ago and I had the same thoughts. I told myself that this thinking was fear and fear is an emotion. Fear is not a fact.

So I took my mind to the facts. My facts were that my sleep apnea could be cured and it has. My high blood pressure could go down without medication and it has. I had several other medical issues that could be resolved with weight loss and one month post op I am still optimistic they will be in the past soon as well.

Yes, I will never be able to eat a whole pizza again or binge on carbs until I fell asleep but the fact is these behaviors, while they may have initially felt good, they were doing me harm.

They to stay in the facts and not the feelings in this decision and you'll be fine. Just like hundreds of thousands before you. FACT!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
