Unbelievably Crappy Day

Recommended Posts

Is Mercury in Retrograde? I've been having just an unbelievably shitty streak. Can I even say that word in here?

I went to my doctor, and he told me I've got very severe gastritis. The kind that's going to take at least a year to heal and might very well never heal. So, for at least the next year (or the rest of my life) I'm on meds 2x a day and have to stay on a completely bland diet. Oh, and the only acceptable beverage is Water. Water. Not even Decaf beverages. AND NO LAP-BAND until the gastritis is healed. But what if it doesn't heal?

Then I went to work, and found out the repetitive work stress has completely blown out my shoulder. To the point where it's starting to be painful to type. And forget about mousing. The minute I start working, the pain starts up. But they've changed the databases at work to make them more mouse-intensive, and they've tripled my work load.

And really? Not being able to use a computer? That's gonna kill me. Not only am I on the computer for my day job, but also when I get home. My boss says that I shouldn't go to a doctor for it, because they'll just want to do cortisone shots in my shoulder and that's a slippery slope, so I've been seeing a chiropractor every week, but it's not helping.

And then, I went to Target to exchange a gift I don't need, but they won't take it back because 1) It cost $24.99, which is $4.99 over their limit and 2) I no longer have the receipt, because the baby trashed it. Their new return policy is not to take back anything that costs more than $20. Even if it's new, unopened, and scans as their item. When I tried to call Target and complain, I got outsourced to India. It was like talking to a freaking wall. I tried to email Target and they're unreachable via email.

Seriously, we handled a product for Target once. A few years ago. (I should have kept the damn number). They insisted we get it made in China for under a quarter, and they were going to sell it for $20. So, if you're wondering why, no matter how many contaminated products get shipped out of China, we'll never stop using them? That's why. China runs sweatshop factories, their per unit cost is well under a dollar (sometimes as low as just pennies or fractions of pennies), and the mark-up when it gets here, is enormous.

So, for all the complaining that things made in the US cost more, the only reason the consumer needs to pay more is because of corporate greed. All these companies want to keep making the same percentage of profit as they do when they import from China.

And then, when I came home, I found $104 worth of stuff that I didn't order and now have to mail back.

And then I checked my email to see that one of my best friends is moving back to Chicago with her husband and baby. And my other friend, who's dying of cancer, is throwing a big party and the people who she considers her nearest/dearest, have decided to boycott it. On the grounds that they see her all the time anyway. I don't know if they've told her yet, or if they're just planning to surprise her with their absence.

It's just been a really, really shitty day.

Sorry to hear about your bad day...(((hugs))). Your Lapband will be here when you are ready for it (and we will be here too). Hopefully you can relax, rest your soul and your shoulder over the weekend. It is tough when it seems like the world is taking a sh*t on you, but things will turn around! Hang tough!

Sorry for your shitty day.

my .02 - you should put a workers' compensation claim in immediately to protect your rights and see a good orthopedic shoulder/hand specialist.

my other .02 - try mousing with your other hand. I switched to using the mouse with my left hand at work and it has been WONDERFUL. No I am not ambidextrous, but I picked it up in about an hour and I've never looked back. There are a few of us at work who mouse lefty. You can switch the mouse using the control panel. give it a try...

Sorry to hear about your friend moving and your other friend with cancer. I can't believe her friends are going to boycott the party..that's really shitty.

Hope your day gets better...

Margie

To be blunt, I think your boss doesn't want you seeing a doctor because they don't want to pay worker's comp. See a doctor before you do irreversible damage to your shoulder.

I work for a workman's comp attorney. Definitely file for workmans's comp.

That's what it's for and you are entitled to it!

I am so sorry for your bad day. As far as your boss is concerned; go see a doctor. He is afraid of a worker's comp claim.Hope you feel better.

Thanks for all the good wishes. My boss is actually a real sweetheart. She tells me to get up and stretch every hour. But I am thinking about going to see a doctor, before I do any permanent damage. In the meantime, I think I'll try the mouse on the left hand at work. I know my right shoulder's never going to get any better unless I can stop using it for awhile.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
